Haemolytic anaemia (classification)

Haemolytic anaemia basically divided into Intrinsic and Extrinsic, under intrinsic it is further divided into intravascular and extravascular.

Intrinsic : defect in the RBC membrane ( problem of RBC )
Extrinsic: no RBC membrane defect

Intravascular (I): the lysis of RBC is inside the vessels
Extravascular (E): the lysis of RBC is outside the vessels (eg: spleen)

Intrinsic
Hereditary spherocytosis ( autosomal dominant) (I)
G6PD ( X-linked) triggers: fava beans, drug with sulpha-group (I/E)
Pyruvate kinase deficiency (I)
PNH ( triad: haemolytic anaemia, pancytopenia, venous thrombosis) (E)
Sickle cell anaemia (E)

Extrinsic
Autoimmune haemolytic anaemia ( cold and warm)
microangiopathic ( eg: TTP-HUS,DIC)
macroangiopathic ( eg: prosthetic valve replacement, aortic stenosis)
Infection (eg; malaria, babesis)

Revising my basic sciences yesterday night, so I made this and share it. Just a very simple version of classification, hope it helps to solve your confusion , not the otherwise ;)

If there is any mistakes, welcome to enlighten under the comment. happy study!
